The Sino-Indian border conflict is a culmination of the unsuccessful negotiation between India and China to mutually consent to the specific alignment and delimitation of their shares. probably in the Himalayan region, where the two nuclear-armed Asian neighbours are located. The unmarked border between bors is 3.500 kilometers. India asserts that there were treaties. Between India and Tibet which fix the boundaries in some of the parts, and there are other regions that are traditionally Indian and founded on their custom and tradition. China questions the previously existing authority of Tibet to make treaties, and strongly advocates the concept of new demarcation of the Sino-Indian boundaries. These border issues lie within the delimiting of decolonization.
In JOINMUN 2025 day 1, UNSC delegates have not been cooperating and working together.
China and India signed an agreement in 1993 and 1996 to keep peace along the LAC(Line of Actual Control) . Countries such as China and India argue where the border starts and ends. These councils must decide if it will push for a new solution or decide and agree on 1 solution that has been proposed among several countries.
These countries have not been cooperating therefore no movement and solutions were agreed on.
China, standing alone with its stances. Non-intervention, Maintaining bilateral dialogue, protecting sovereignty and national autonomy. China also mentioned to outline historically accurate administration of the land in question. Example: Aksi chin, Tibet.
Many delegates feel that the real condition of the LAC needs to be discussed first.
India stated- Since the UN security council has not directly interviewed in the Sino-Indian border conflict due to China's permanent member status and veto power leading to diplomatic deadlock, India would like to propose a UN suspended mapping and verification mission to collect and compare border maps from both parties.
The United States of America supports India’s claim but at the end of the day, the United States is for regional stability and respects the sovereignty of both nations.
After much discussion, the delegate of Japan has suggested a UN supported demarcation survey and also gathering cartographers to give a detailed and accurate view of the map from non-involved member states to ensure neutrality. Thus, we hopefully produce a verified map by both parties.
Both the delegate of Japan and the delegate of India have somewhat similar solutions to combat this problem by producing a verified map by both parties.
China has reinforced bilateral agreements, Revitalise consultation mechanisms, and opposed external interference.
