The issue of Universal Healthcare and its availability and accessibility to the masses, has been a pressing issue for all nation-states ever since the inception of the World Health Organization. As defined by WHO, Healthcare or Health Systems consists of all organizations, people and actions whose primary intent is to promote, restore or maintain health. As an issue which hasn’t been solved for so many years, this was the issue that was raised in the committee sessions that are being held on the 1st and 2nd of November, 2025.
During the early stages of the sessions, each delegate rushed to state their stances regarding the issue. The only dilemma this particular council was facing was the fact that after hours and hours of continuous discussion, no concrete solution was found. Bolivia talked about their Single Health System, but offered no concrete solution. Greece talked about their successful health communities, but offered no concrete solution. France talked about their 90% coverage of public healthcare for their citizens, but offered no concrete solution. It seems as though they were only offering advice and insight whilst waiting for a delegate to make a move.
At the Press Conference, each respective news agency questioned the delegate's solution towards implementing Universal Healthcare. Their reply was “we’re working on it”. When asked what they were working on, the answer remained the same. At the moment, it seems like the council remains in a standstill and as time passes by and no concrete solution has been made or given to the floor, the issue of Universal Healthcare remains an unsolvable issue not only for the UN, but for the world as well.
